DIY Canvas Strop Question

I picked up 3 feet of 2 inch all cotton canvas at a fabric store last week. So questions about canvas strops arise.

For example, is there a certain weave the canvas should have? Any caveats to making ones own strop?

The material is designed for straps and belts.

Unless its preshrunk you'll need to wash it. You'll probably need to wash it several times to get the fabric to relax enough to be used like you want.
