Discovered another use for Barbicide

I had this really funky smell coming from the dishwasher.. I tried everything, running bleach in it, lemon juice, even took the plastic pipe tube that connects it to the garbage disposal and cleaned that out good with bleach water.
And to no success, this was on going for a week. That sour dead smell haunted the dishwasher.. So it was time to break out the ace in the hole.. The all powerful all killing Barbicide.. Filled up the prewash section and dishwasher soap section.. let it go thru hot water pots and pans cleaning cycle to the very end... And the smell is gone :w00t: Been gone for a week now :w00t:

Wow Barbicide seems to be some really mean stuff. I think I will keep that in mind next time I need to clean out a smell out of something.

Great tip. My garbage disposal gets a bit rank from time to time. Bleach works temporarily. I'll have to pick some up Barbicide and give it a try.

To keep our garbage disposal from ripening, we always throw in the eggshells and coffee grounds, as they are good deodorizers. Also, if we are arounf Sonic during Happy Hour, we'll get a few drinks with lemon in them and throw those down there, too. Never had a problem with our disposal.

Ive found that half a cup of baking soda to half gallon of warm water gets rid of smells. I pretty much works on any plastics with funky smells.

No blue tinting.. Its a cheap generic apartment dishwasher, white interior, white exterior...
I ran it with hot water and the dryer cycle afterwards and no ill effects or weird smells from the dishwasher.. The smell was coming from under the waste trap ( I couldn't remove it, I guess the cheap dishwashers wasn't made for the waste trap to be cleaned) :thumbup1:

You missed a golden opportunity. You could've bottled the smell and sold it in Target as shaving cream. Would've fit right in.
