I've got 2 Super Speeds, and thought I'd do a little experiment to see if I got different shaves from each one. Shaved last night with the '62 (H3) with an Astra Superior Platinum blade. This was the 2nd shave with that particular blade. Shaved tonight with the '54 (Z3) with the exact same blade, prep, technique, and everything, and tonight's shave was vastly superior. Can't pinpoint any particular reason for this other than perhaps the '62's slightly lower profile head doesn't "drive" as intuitively for me. Anyone else experience the same between 2 different years of the same model of razor?

I've got a '56 B3 and a '65 K4. The slightly lower profile on the K4 is perfect under my nose. They're both damn fine shavers so it would be hard to choose between them!
Is your Z3 the flair tip or the TV special 40's style? I've got 4 of the 40's style from 49-52. One of these days I'll have to pick up a late 50's flair tip to see the difference. I'm really partial to the early SS for the comfortable shaves I get.
i currently have a Flare Tip i have yet to use, i bought it as i was cheaper than a 40s SS. i was earlier sitting on the Bay trying to decide if i should still get one, so the consensus of a differing shaving experience between the two has me 'sold' - darn it!!
I've found the exact same thing. My '64 Fair tip is a bit more aggressive than my '53's or my '46. I would have to think it was the head change in '58 that did it.

njpaddy, my Z3 is a flair tip, just like my H3. That's why I was surprised at the vastly different shave experiences.
