I bought a sample kit and it was supposed to have 301's, but they are not marked anywhere. How can you tell the difference between the different type of Dorcos's? I would like to know before I order 100 of them. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I don't recall either blade being marked with the type but the wrappings should be marked.

This is easy for me to answer. The ST300 has the carton packing and its in blue color. The box of 10 blades does say NEW PLATINUM ST300.
The ST301 has a plastic dispenser and has 10 blades as well. This has the wrapping in orange color and does say NEW PLATINUM ST301.

From Dorco's mouth, only difference is the packaging. All paper = 300, plastic holder for used blades is 301
I thought the 301s were "ok" on par with the Merkurs. The 300s were IMHO the worst blades ever. I have a box if you want me to mail you one.
I second this. The WCS sampler pack I ordered had 300s and honestly I could not get through that shave fast enough. I actually think that instead of cutting the whiskers off it just pulled every one out by the roots. I've not tried the 301s and to be frank I doubt I will at this point. The Sharks I just got seem to have surpasseds red packs as my new favorite.

+1... my current blades of choice (just got 100 of each) are the Personnas and the Shark Super Chromes.
Yeah I can't believe more people don't talk about the Sharks. They seem to be very sharp and caused almost zero irritation (at least by using the Clubman test). Not to mention they have a wicked cool package!
Yeah. I assume the clubman test is whether or not it burns? I use a similar test with an Alum block. With a Tech and Sharks/Personnas I get irritation free shaves daily.
That would be the test I'm referring too. Although I have begun to relish the burn as it definitely provides a kickstart to my mornings that coffee can't. I haven't tried them in my 48-50 SS yet but I can't wait.
Never used the clubman test. Whats the base? Alcohol?
Yes I think it's alcohol with maybe a touch of rocket fuel cut with pre-lit lighter fluid. No seriously it's an alcohol base with water and scent mainly I believe. It's not as bad as the Clubman Bay Rum which really, REALLY burns......but I love the smell of both enough to put up with it.

The difference is that the ST301 are a bit sharper than the ST300. From my experience, I get a better shave out of the ST301 then the ST300. It is a mild blade, no nicks, no cuts, no irritation. But my blade or choice is still the Red Personna. I have found other blades that I like, but i do get irritation.

Just to post an update, I mailed Sid some Dorco 300s I had lying around. So hopefully he can post again once he has a chance to try them.
What did he ever do to you to deserve that!!
