Difference Between Aftershave and After Shave

Ever notice how when searching online, a vastly different array of products will show up in a search if you type in aftershave versus after shave. Which one do you think is more proper? I've found that the designer brand ones usually come up with aftershave and the drugstore brands show with after shave. Is there any technicality on this; why someone would choose the spelling of this one of another?

I've never noticed that before. Maybe it's because aftershave is actually something that has a kind of designation. To get around that a cheaper brand will have to say after shave.

it sounds better in my head. does what I said make any sense?

After shaves are made by Leprechauns. Aftershaves are made by Gnomes. *

You don't want to know who makes balms.

*In other words, the only difference is how the company decides to name their product -- the terms are interchangeable.

According to the dictionary, it should be one word, not two. I could see someone saying "here are our after shave products." But, when referring to a lotion, it should be aftershave.

When you search for "aftershave" you will generally get mostly products, but when you use "after shave" you will get products and anything related to activity done after a shave.

look at the difference you get when you search for "dress shirt" and "shirt dress"
