differance in shaves between razors

I have been successfully shaving with my wapi for the last few weeks
And am looking to try decent wedge but would like to know the
Differance in shave experiance that I'd get? I'm doing quite well with
The wapi not quite bbs, and only the occassional nic.
Also why have a 7 day set rather than one razor?
Many thaks for letting me pic ya brains

A wedge is a blade with very little metal hollowed out or ground out. A full wedge has no metal hollowed out at all.

It is therefore heavier than a hollowed blade. It is a less flexible blade or stiffer blade to use. It is usually more difficult to sharpen the edge, but the use of tape on the spine makes the sharpening process a whole lot easier.

In terms of shave quality, just so long as the blade is sharp, the shave is usually closer and smoother because of the blades weight and directness. If you have a particularly heavy beard or you shave every few days rather than daily, the weight cuts through the growth with ease.

So many men with heavy stubble actually prefer a wedge to a hollow ground razor.

As to seven day sets. They say that if you let a razor rest between shaves, the blade recovers and somehow becomes more comfortable to use.. You will notice there is truth to this fact if you have just two or three razors and you use them alternatively. But also, if you leave a blade, rust will start to form and the longer you leave it, the more the oxidation will effect the edge. My belief is that when a Gentleman had his Butler, he got the Butler to maintain a seven day set, ensuring that every day he got a great shave. But bottom line, I think it was just a marketing ploy to get the rich to buy more.
Whatever, they look great in the box and I'm sure those that own seven day sets enjoy them immensely.

As I recall, the Wapi is usually found in 1/4 grind. Therefore, you may not really notice much difference between a Wapi and a full wedge other than a bit of extra weight. The shave should be very comparable.

Indeed they are comparable, but I find the wedge to be that last 10 percent more aggressive than a 1/4 grind. TBH I don't really enjoy shaving with either a wedge or a 1/4 grind on a daily basis, but find both to be incredibly effective at shaving a 2 or 3 day growth.

If you're just looking for a new shaving experience, perhaps you would like to try a half or 3/4 hollow? They don't flex like a full hollow but are very different from a quarter grind.
