What's new

Did somebody here snag the Yardleys on eBay?

I know! I really hope that it was somebody here who will appreciate it and use it. I missed out by no more than a few seconds. But I did find one at antique shop for $5. So, I suppose I can't complain too much.

Well that might have been me.The mail brought a Shulton Old Spice puck and I was so overwhelmed by vintage tallow I went searching for more. I think the Wheel of Soap Karma is turning back in my favor after sending two very nice soaps to our friend in Portugal and all I got was a puck of new formulation
Penhaligon's Blenheim Boquet.

Congratulations, Russ! I'm so glad that it went to somebody here. You are certainly in for a treat. It is probably the best performing soap I've used. Most likely the scent will be entirely gone, but that works out fine because you can add in a drop or two of your favorite cologne, aftershave, or essential oil to your lather. Congratulations on an excellent score!

If I had won it, you'd better believe I'd be on here bragging about it to you guys. I need to check ebay from now on.

I was watching that, and I believe at the beginning, it was just a straight up auction.

When did it go to "Buy It Now"?

Congrats on the score!!!!

Well after some extended E-Bay wierdness my Yardley finally got here. After scraping a gross crust off the puck and sanding a few years of mildew off the wooden box I had basicly a new soap. I could still see the inprint in the puck. I grabbed a brush and just wet it for a second under the tap and hit the puck just a couple of turns . My intention was to just wash off the puck. I realized it was instantly building lather. I moved the brush to palm and within two or three seconds I had about a half pint of the slickest lather I have ever felt. The soap has no smell ... fast forward.....had a great shave . Here is what I don't understand. Why can't the big soap makers ,whom we all support, give us a product like this. I would never pay the prices people pay for this vintage stuff, I was lucky . A lot of people will never will never know what real lather can feel like.
I just don't understand.

Maybe you have to age soaps, like wine.

I will be keeping a crate of VDH in my cellar for my grandchildren. Just hope they don't pop the plastic container open and find vinegar.
