Diamine Ink

Is this popular with B&Bers? The first one I tried had me hooked - excellent ink, nice colour and very reliable. I like the fact that it flows very well as I prefer a wet line from my pens.

I had a bottle of yellow. Nice ink but too hard to read when used for a letter. Maybe for highlighting or drawing it would work. The only other inks I have used are Noodlers 5OS and BBB, and Sheaffer's Blue-Black.

Now half as wise
I've used several samples, and have a bottle of Denim. I will be getting more of this ink. The bottle reminds me of some vintage Parker bottles I have.

I have a couple of Diamine ink bottles for the Noodlers ink I have ( the smaller bottles look nicer & are less top-heavy than the eyedropper bottles ).

I used the few drops that were left in the bottle to test ( as a dip-pen ) and liked it. I'll likely buy a bottle later.

I like Diamine Grey. I use it in a Preppy and it seems to be the perfect flow, never too light or too heavy. I like the shading, it looks almost like pencil but is more fun to write with.

I've got two or three and the flow is nice but one has a lot of bleedthrough and feathers too much for my liking -- Florida Pen Show Tropical Blue 2004 (limited edition). Royal Blue was better but still went through some of my nicer papers.

I got a sample of the Oxblood color. I like the color somewhat, but man, the ink takes FOREVER to dry. I am using a Pelikan M205 extra fine, and writing in a Leuchtturm 1917 notebook. Since I'm new to this scene, I can't say whether it's the nib, the paper, the ink, or a combination thereof. I have a few other ink samples to try out, so I'll be able to compare this to some other brands. At this time, however, I definitely do not like the long dry time for this ink. Oh well.

It's possibly the paper, I'm a left-handed overwriter and have no problems with Diamine Oxblood drying times. At the moment I'm using it in my TWSBI 504 which has a medium nib that writes wet, so if your M205 is an XF it's probably not the nib.

I am also a fan of Diamine inks, and they're very cheap here in the UK. Oxblood is one of my favourites, but I also love Imperial Purple, and Sapphire Blue.

I have some samples of Diamine and haven't been too pleased with the ones I've tried so far, my dislike being either the colour (too light) or the behaviour or both. I'm glad to see some others in this thread like Diamine inks; it means I'm likely to come across a sample I like eventually.

At the moment, I think my favourite ink manufacturer is Private Reserve, but Noodler's Black is the ink I use the most.

I have their Dragon Red, Ancient Copper and Evergreen, and they are among my favourite inks, with beautiful shading and good flow.

I got their Asa Blue as one of my earlier inks. Nice enough color, but this was before I realized how non water resistant some fountain pen inks are, and started doing my own testing. Not a big deal for some people, but for me, an ink that just washes off the page 24 hours later is not acceptable, no matter how good it looks. I don't know if their other inks are like that.

If an ink being bulletproof/waterproof is required you might want to go with another manufacturer. Diamine offers a iron gall ink with archival properties but I can't think of another Diamine ink that offers such characteristics.
