I'm a coffee fiend however, I'm having to stick to decaf but the only decaf I can find is the same very few stuff in my local Albertsons. Anyone have a place where I can purchase some nice decaf coffee?
I'm in the same boat, I have to drink decaf if I want to drink coffee. Amazingly enough, I've grown quite fond of Costco's Kirkland brand decaf. I know that sounds rather pedestrian, but I like the stuff...
If I absolutely had to drink decaf, I would look for a few things.
I would avoid Swiss water processed decaf. The coffee has lost its soul.
I would look for a methylene chloride processed decaf. The soul has been tarnished, but not lost.
I would look for it to come from a roasting company with a solid track record. Decaf is tricky. The only point of drinking decaf is the very trait that the decaffeination process damages most: its flavor.
That having been said, I would look for things that would preserve as much of it as possible. Which is where my preferences come from.
