DE Blade use/rotation

I have been experimenting with different ways to rotate my DE blade. I typically use each blade for 4 shaves then get a new one. I don't know if it is just cause I am new, or if it does not matter, but I was wondering what the majority of you out there did about turning over/rotating/flipping your blade?

What I mean is after you shave, do you flip it over after 1,2 or 3 shaves to use the other side? Do you just use the same side for all your shaves? I am sure it is personal preference but just curious as to what you all do.

Thanks

Since most of my DE blades only stay in my razor for 3-4 shaves max, I don't worry about flipping or rotating.

If you were trying for some reason to maximize the number of shaves you got out of a blade, I suppose flipping and/or rotating might help that effort--but blades are cheap and Emergency Room visits for stitches to close up your cut fingers tend to be much more expensive. Leave 'em in till you toss them, I say--but as with all things B&B, YMMV rules!

Ya I guess I meant edge. As you know blades like Astra have a number, so what I have tried to use is number 1 then 2 and so on, ie 1 and 2 on one side flip and 3 and 4 on the other. I don't care about stretching use of each blade, I live by 4 and done. I just didn't know if flipping them was worth it... not talking about edge as I do use each edge on the shave, ie shave when the side gets filled flip then rinse.

Just FYI Nagano21, the numbers on the edges of DE blades are believed by popular concensus to be put there as a quality control device for the manufacturer, and have nothing to do with the shaver's uses. Feel free to flip or not, as you see fit.:thumbup1:

Good to know... I can now stop the madness, put a blade in leave for 4 shaves and get a new one. Thanks!

I've never 'rotated' my blades. I use both sides while I shave, and when it's dull I get a new blade.
+1. I don't believe there is any benefit to blade flipping either. Blades don't cost that much. I now switch out my blades every third shave

I've had one blade sitting on my rotation papers for the past 9 months. I really need to pick that one up and use it some more :001_smile

I use a blade 3 times then its done. When I put it in the razor, it stays put until I take it our. I do loosen the head to rinse the head and blade, but then I just tighten it back up, dry it and stick it on the shelf.

As you can see, nothing at all comes out of doing anything at all to a blade, other than using it. There's no need to to flipping a blade, rotating it, or anything.

No need to worry about anything and just use both sides of the DE blade for your 4 shaves and, then, get a new one. Have fun.
