Custom Made Watch

I'm having a watch made and I thought a few might like to see the assembly....It's 42mm with an ETA6498 movement(Swiss manual wind)

Here is a shot of the movement with dial...

That looks quite interesting. I had a friend that actually was a watchsmith. He said it was actually an extensive apprentice program.

This is very interesting. I'd love to see and hear more about the whole experience. How did you decide to have your own watch built? How did you select the style, components, movement? As a watch fanatic I'd love to have my own personal one of a kind watch.

It looks nice, are you going to mount a metal or leather bracelet?
The 6498 is a very good movement, produced since 1950 I think.

It is used, among many, in the following Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 1 limited edition beauty:

Well...You asked for it! I , along with many others suffer from a mental disorder commonly called WIS(Watch Idiot Savant) syndrome..A deep "need" to collect watches.
I wanted to add a man wind to my collection and started searching...I looked at a ZENITH for $1,600.00, price was fine but the watch was 37mm....Little small.
So I spent many hours searching for the perfect watch...And I found it! But it has to be ordered from the GERMAN watchmaker...No American distributor. Now, I try to
buy USA made, if not at least let some Americans working in a stock room earn a living...Back to the search...I found an American making watches in the little town
of Wilson, N.C. He uses cases made in Germany, movements from Switzerland,China and rebuilt Hamilton's. The dials, hands and straps German. The man has like 5or 6
cases to choose from...5or6 bezel choices....About 20 dials and dozens of straps...You just pick the parts and he builds you a "Custom" watch.
It only took a week! He's putting in the mail Monday. The company is WILSON WATCH WORKS.
Here's a few more pics.

Very nice, I share your WIS affliction, 6 watches in the last 12 months.

I will have to check out Wilson watch works next time the urge strikes. I too was looking for a manual wind and settled on a Nomos Tangente, unfortunately it has been stuck in Canadian customs for a week. I seem to have a thing for Glashutte watches. I have two Glashutte Originals, the Nomos coming, and some day I hope to own an A Lange & Sohne.

Muhle Glashutte Teutonia II is a nice watch that I thought about...It looks very similar to this one I had made.
And WWW is $2,000.00 cheaper.

Sweet! love seeing the craftsmen getting work.

RGM makes 'em upeast somewhere. They sponsor my pal's CX team. Ever hear of 'em? I don't travel in those circles much.

I looked at RGM..The same German company makes many RGM cases and the cases of Wilson Watch Works.
The big diff. was WWW was $1,000.00 cheaper!! But most important the WWW looked better....IMHO

that is a classic looking watch. I hope it treats you and your future generations to come.

Nice looking watch. Thanks for sharing your watch build and some insight about the maker, as I did not know about Wilson Watch Works, and they are a relatively short drive away. Their website is a little bit difficult to navigate, but I like his Pilot watch though I might want a date display even though that would be non-traditional.

Congrats ... the more I look at this watch, the more I like it. Having it unbranded adds a certain cachet to it that grows on me.

Watches being a very personal preference YMMV sort of thing, if I were doing one I'd have the second hand on the central dial rather than a sub-dial, but that's just personal preference, not "right and wrong".

Beautiful.
