I was going to purchase some paper. I have used and really enjoy clairfontaine. I'm doing a bit of traveling an can't buy a great deal of paper. How is crown mill paper for a FP? Should I just stick with my clairfontaine?

I have tried the CM "classic laid" and found it a bit "meh" in that it would feather a bit more than I would have expected. I have yet to try (but will) their 100% cotton. Have not tried clairfontain.

They are very different animals. Crown Mill is cotton, so soft, more absorbent and some nibs have trouble with it. That said, I do love it. I also use a lot of Clairefontaine, which is super smooth, almost slick, and can have longer drying times. It's really an apples and oranges --- or in this case filet mignon and kobo beef--- thing.

Your dry times will be quicker on the crown mill, but it will feather a wee bit, and it doesn't have that glossy feel to it CF has

I have heard the Apica premium CD paper is fantastic stuff but havent had it, its high on my list once I get through the last of my testing

I wasn't a fan of Crown Mill really, because of the feathering that was already mentioned. But the paper has a luxurious feel!

Have too agree with fnc11. They are as different as Chalk & Cheese.

I love the "Crown Mill 100% cotton. Then again I love the Clairfontaine, I have used both for many years each have their own different merits. I use different FP which suit these papers......... well for me at least.

Try Elco Prestige. I am very impressed with that paper. Very smooth, good drying time, and no feathering. And Swiss made, if you care about that :)

Have you tried Rhodia, Isaac? It's made by Clairefontaine, I think, but ink dries faster on Rhodia.

I have tried it, and do like it. It is funny, I just had a tablet delivered by the Goulets, but I ordered the ivory colored paper. It's still a lovely paper.
