Creams?

I've been mostly a soap guy, but wondering am I missing something by not checking out creams? I have one C&F Lavender but each of the three times I used it, it dried out quickly, so then I started to look at soaps.
I face lather and concerned I didn't give creams a fair shot. Each time I used the cream I added extra water in hopes it wouldn't dry out. I live in our RV fulltime so storage for a scuttle is an issue. Checking out all options, and any advice is appreciated.

I use both soaps and creams. Whilst neither is better in my opinions, I like the variety of different loading and lathering methods. Creams in tubes are really convenient on the go, I just put some on my brush and go straight to face lathering. I only have one tub cream (GFT coconut) and like it as well. Form me it is really just a matter of variety.

I use both soaps and creams. In my experience, I found I would get a better lather if I bowl lathered with creams. Plus it's really fun to watch your lather "grow". I only face lather creams if I shave in the shower or if I'm in a rush.

Try bowl lathering cream. My first bowl was a tiny, stainless steel pet dish from walmart and it worked perfectly.

I like both soaps and creams. The creams that currently in my rotation are AK 1869, T&H Ultimate Comfort, TOBS, Proraso, and Williams.

Given the space consideration, long term a triple-milled soap might be your best bet. But what fun is that? Creams come packaged in different forms and sizes. A tube of Speick or a tub of Al's does not occupy a great deal of space.

BTW- you could always save some room by ditching the scuttle in favor of face or hand lathering.

I'm basically a soap guy that has been on a recent cream kick. You get better lather with soaps because you have more experience with it. With practice you will figure out the right amount of water to use with creams.

You really don't need a scuttle if you face lather. One thing you can do with a cream is put it on your brush or on your face and skip any kind of shaving mug or bowl. A shave soap stick affords the same portability. Probably a tube of shave cream takes up the least amount of space.

The ones I would recommend to a friend would be:
Santa Maria Novella Crema da barba
Truefitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort
L'Occitane Cade (new one)
most TOBS creams
Proraso
Palmolive
Nivea

(probably in this order)
