That's new to me! I can't imagine it being very durable. Maybe glued to a piece of wood as a bench strop? Might work well with pastes.

Hi Doc

I am just a guy who try to save money, and still get the best result, and thats a difficult task.

I found the cork in my basement, and - thinking a lot of : straight razors, pre, wash, after, strop, hone, polish, etc and you know, what your mind is full of, leeds to ideas. Sometimes bad, but sometimes good.

I tried to work a corner of the cork with smouth grinding wet paper (1200) and the surface became very very smouth.

Normally I would just try and test my ideas, but in this case I will mess up my only straight, I depend on it every day now :001_cool:

That was the story, Doc.

I get it, i think you would be better off with any piece of smooth leather, you can glue it to some wood and don't have to worry about the hangers.

I have no idea if cork would work, but give it a try, likely it would have to be glued to something.

Here is one that you can get delivered to Denmark for $26 USD, I have this strop, it is actually quite nice.

I don't even know if I'd trust it at that point....not the way cork expands if it accidentally gets wet or crumbles if it dries out. There are enough other materials out there to slather paste on that are just as cheap and 10x more durable

Thanks Daryl.
I already got an ok strop from Dovo : 3" wide and 15" long.
It works fine, and the cork thing was just an idea. But thank you for your help.
