I had talked to my dad about this whole DE and brush shaving thing, and he always doubted that my vintage Gillette could do better than a 5 blade monstrosity. So, I hit up the pharmacy for a brush and aftershave, and gave him a tech with some Lord Platinums. He said he'd do it on the weekends only for sake of convenience.

That was a month ago. Today, I let him shave with my red tip and a feather hi stainless blade. He had the best shave ever, according to him. He loves lathering up (I gave him some col conk almond) and using the de. He said he might start doing it to replace his carts. And, as a side note, he bought a birthyear Slim Adjustable for himself.

Who knew my 45 year old dad would be learning to shave from his 15 year old son?

Enjoyed reading your story. Sometimes I think our dads can learn from the kids.

My dad wouldn't use anything but an electric razor. He advised me to use one too and not be too picky about the results. My mom told me once his electric razor was on the fritz and he was forced to use my wetshaving equipment. She said he cut himself right and left and was bleeding and cussing all along the way.

If he was still around he'd be horrified to know that I use a straight razor, especially while I was learning how!
