condiments

Baconaise: neither tastes like bacon or mayonaise. how utterly disappointing....and it cost damn near $5.

are there any must-have condiments out there I need to try?

I'm sure it's available commercially in one variety or another, but we almost always have chipotle mayo on hand: just finely chop a canned chipotle or two and add it to mayo. Great on burgers, potatoes, asparagus, whatever you like.

EDIT: Forgot to mention it's equally good with plain greek yogurt or low-fat sour cream, or a mix of two.

Sriracha hot sauce. HP brown sauce. London Pub Spicy Jamaican steak sauce. All staples in my pantry.

HP sauce is made in Holland now. Kraft bought the company and then closed the Birmingham factory.

Still tastes the same but it's not the same!:mad3:

Would hot banana pepper rings count as a condiment or topping? Either way, I love them on a lot of different things.

I love Tabasco and couldn't get by without a big bottle of Heinz Ketchup in the fridge. On the other hand, I like a good mustard and think it's worth it to explore some higher end ones. Mayo? I'd rather make it myself. Mmmm....

I've found that the mustard I make myself from this recipe is the be-all of mustard-dom. And it's much cheaper than buying similar mustard.

Ole Ray's Apple Cinnamon BBQ sauce is great. I picked some up a few years ago when I was in Tennessee and loved it. Unfortunately I have yet to order any more, but it's excellent for a bottled sauce, in my opinion.

I also like Texas Pete hot sauce, and this is my favorite store bought salsa BY FAR:

Don't let the price fool you; it's good stuff!

If there are any pieces of moo-cow in the cooler, A-1 steak sauce is a must have. Also Worcestershire sauce. And hot sauce.
