Does anyone mix different aftershaves or colognes, or hell spray some cologne in an aftershave then apply?? I havent tried anything yet but wanted to know if there was a good combo out there to try.
Never heard of such a thing, but mixing cologne and aftershaves doesn't sound wise. Just put the AS on first, let it dry, then put on cologne of choice. You'll find a combo that compliments each product sooner or later.
I recently used some Proraso AS (new formula) and, after it dried down, applied some Jovan Musk AS/cologne over it as an AS. Worked surprisingly well. The Proraso's scent is light enough that the Jovan pretty much took over, but I still got all the skin goodness + menthol from the Proraso.
I use a different cologne than aftershave all the time. I just try to find a cologne that compliments the overall tone of the aftershave. If I use a bay rum AS, then I try to pair it with a more "spicy" cologne.
I often put on Osage rub and then a heavier scented AS after. But it would have to pair right... Like I dont think Osage and Bay Rum would go well.. but OSage and Clubman works for me.
I mix Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum with Masters Bay Rum. The Masters tones down the Pinaud some, which to me is a good thing. The end result is a nice Bay Rum.
I mix muago real AS with GFT, Brooks Bros. Gentleman, and Chanel Allure. Captains Choice with Royall Rugby, and Spice Bomb and Tabac as with Pinaud Clubman ( I know 2 aftershaves, but a winning combo that lasts all day).
You can also combine something like Stephen's Lime with Old Spice, or bay rum. Combining the more complex scents could be tricky, but adding a simple scent to something else can work pretty well. No need to mix in the bottle, just put on one, then the other. If you want more control over proportions you can take a 1 oz travel container and make your mix there. It's never a good idea to take a chance on ruining a whole bottle of stuff you like!
