How do I pick a good percolator (I'm thinking electric) and how do I brew a good cup using it?

How about a Bodum Santos Electric? It isn't exactly a percolator--it's an electric vacuum pot. You get a neat circulation of water to watch, but you don't get the bitter overboiling that can ruin perked coffee.

As a disclaimer, I have never tried the electric version of the Santos, but I have a stovetop version that I use regularly and it produces an excellent cup.

The electric vacuum looks interesting.
Vacuum pots rock. You will never make coffee any other way once you start.
I have had a German Cona for several decades. Makes the best tasting coffee
I had a couple vac pots this morning. Good stuff. Bodum Santos stovetop with a Cona rod.

I use a Hario vac pot and it makes a nice cup of coffee, very clean.

They probably brew a mean cup but I'm looking for something that isn't as breakable.
For Christmas I was given a Tassimo machine but my wife and I drink a pot of coffee between the two of us every morning and we like it strong. We tried a Tassimo a few times but found it just wasn't brewing a big enough cup of strong coffee and it is extremely loud. I get up at 5am and cannot imagine brewing a Tassimo cup at that time in the morning. This got me thinking about coffee preparation and I guess the idea of a percolator is appealing. I have my grans pyrex teapot and thought it would be cool to get a matching pyrex perc set, after looking around I see the electric machines and thought I'd ask about them.
