I've been really loving regular Clubman and decided to try some of Pinaud's other scents. When I got samples of the Vanilla and the Musk I became confused. The Vanilla smells like what I would have expected from something with a musky scent and the Musk smells like regular Clubman with a little something extra, like maybe a touch of vanilla. I'm pretty sure the sample bottles are labeled correctly. The Musk is noticeably darker in color than the Vanilla just like I've seen in the pictures of the products online. It almost seems like Pinaud has accidentally been labeling these products backwards. Thoughts? Do I just not know what musk smells like? I feel I've got a good handle on what vanilla smells like.

I think you've got it right. The Vanilla isn't like an ice cream vanilla, and the Musk is regular Clubman, with a little twist of musk that makes it less powdery/sweet, IMHO.

Pinaud uses a milled vanilla from Germany, and it's more of a vanilla scent that uses notes taken form other fragrances. Auf Deutsch, I believed the term used for this milled version of the scent is "Milli Vanilli".

the Musk to me is on the flowery side not musky at all. I like it!!!
The vanilla is a little odd but still enjoyable. This is the one that is the closest to the original Clubman to my nose.
