Cleaning the Razor....

My apologies if there is already a post or a sticky on this....

I recently got a 48-50 Gillette Superspeed TTO and I've been using it daily and enjoying it. I'm just wondering about keeping it clean and in good working order. I rinse it off with hot water after I shave every day and then I partially open the doors and let the blade and everything air dry through the day. Two questions:

#1: Is what I'm doing post-shave even a good idea? Seems like maybe I should be concerned about opening the doors like that all the time and then closing them again.

#2: What should I do to keep the razor clean and in good working order?

If there's already a post or sticky on this, just point me in the right direction and I'm happy to do the reading, but if not, I'd appreciate whatever ideas are out there on B&B :)

I don't think there's a right or wrong way. It's entirely up to you. I guess I'm a bit obsessive and using creams with hard water leaves a residue which bugs me. I take out the blade, rinse off the SS, wipe it down with a washcloth or paper towel, hand-strop the blade and put it back in for next time. I shave at night and have the bathroom to myself for a change, so I'm in no rush.

I have hard water and hate that soap scum too. After the first rinse, I loosen it up, give it a quick shot of "No Scrub" soap scum remover, count to 3, rinse in hot water again, then a quick dunk and swish in a little jar of denatured alcohol. Take it out, close it up and in a minute the alcohol has evaporated and it's dry and shiny and clean again, including the blade.
