Citrus Cologne

I am interested in citrus colognes for men. I currently own Eau Sauvage and Acqua di Parma Colonia. I have heard that Monsieur de Givenchy is similar to Eau Sauvage. Has anyone tried Monsieur de Givenchy?

I haven't, but I've just tried a couple of other interesting scents recently that are primarily citrus. The first is Annick Goutal's Eau d'Hadrien--something of a complex eau de Portugal. Also, the 4711 Portugal (both EdT and EdC) is similarly nice.

What else, aside from the citrus factor, do you want in your scent? I could suggest dozens of citrus frags, but if you can give us some more info, I can narrow it down.

I haven't smelled the others mentioned, but I've been using Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey fir men for some time with many compliments, and it has a citrusy note.
Great scent.

+1 on 4711 Eau de Portugal. Beautifully light scent. Wish it lingered a bit longer. Have both the after shave and edt. This one has nothing to do with the 4711 we all know. They also have an aftershave balm in Eau de Portugal. It's light and pleasant. You never have to worry about overapplying during the day.........

I use Creed Neroli-Sauvage, a very refershing scent that stays a few hours on me. Most citrus scents didn't have sufficient longetivity and that includes Eau Sauvage.

From all the Acqua di Parma scents, I like the Arancia Capri which smells like what you'd expect from a shaving cream - both oranges and cream. This one is still noticable in the evening if used in the morning, even on hot summer days.

There are SO many! Have you tried Pour Monsieur? I also use Citrus Paradisi, several AdP's, and a cople "salt" scents.

Trumper's GFT is among my favorite citruses, and the pairing of cypress with the lemon makes it stick around MUCH longer than most citrus scents. It is an incredibly versatile and well-balanced fragrance, and among my top recommendations.

This might not be what you're looking for, and the longevity is no good, but Penhaligon's Anthology Extract of Limes is pure heaven for as long as it lasts.

In my opinion.

Citrus Paradisi for the smell, and decently good longevity, especially for a citrus. Not the one note pony a lot of Citrus is, like Hermes Eau de Orange Verte

GFT - lemons and a longevity monster. Reminds me somewhat of Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta, but more lemons than the rose of the ADP and a heavier, heartier wood base. Some lemon colognes can smell like lemon furniture polish, but this is a bit rounder than that.

Miller Harris Tangerine Vert. Not as tart as pineapple scents and not as sweet or fruity. Great longevity.

Creed Virgin Island Water - coconuts, not typically citrus. Think suntan lotion

One scent I am rocking is Montale Red Vetyver. Read up on it at Basenotes. I do get that pineapple note but it has a bit of spice which tempers the tartness. I get compliments on this a lot.

One that I want to try next summer is Parfum d'Empire Iskander. They say it is a long lasting citrus.

Bergamot is a citrus too, I think ... ?

Penhaligon's Douro/Lords is my favourite, but how about ...

Royall Lime?
Floris JF?
Art of Shaving Lemon cologne?
Guerlain Vetiver? (a citrisy initial blast)
Ralph Lauren Safari? (for the tangerines out of the nozzle)
DR Harris Arlington? (the citrus makes the rosiness bearable)
QED Bergamot SS?
Which do I like second best?

Yes. Exactly.

Are the AdPs different enough to warrant trying them all? I have the Colonia Assoluta that I bought as a blind buy and really like it.

Royall Lime?--didn't care for it
Floris JF?--ditto
Art of Shaving Lemon cologne?--haven't tried
Guerlain Vetiver? (a citrisy initial blast)--made me gag
Ralph Lauren Safari? (for the tangerines out of the nozzle)--haven't tried
DR Harris Arlington? (the citrus makes the rosiness bearable)--gave me a headache
QED Bergamot SS?--intriguing
Which do I like second best?

Yes. Exactly.

So is neroli. You might look at frags with neroli notes as well.

GFT if you haven't tried it is a must, and for the price you should really grab a bottle of Speick. It's not a classic citrus but it is citrusy and extremely fresh.

Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet starts with a wonderful lemon blast, then settles into a cedar/pine base without any middle notes. It was hord for me to define the basenotes, but today I remembered: To me, is like sharpening fresh pencils made of cedar, with lemons being zested at the same time.

Are you referring to Trumpers Portugal Eau de Toilette?

If you like lemons, Monsieur Balmain is really nice. Interestingly, I believe that I read that it too is similar to Monsieur de Givenchy.
