Chubby 2 Two Band or Thater 2 Band

Ok folks, I've decided my next brush purchase will be a Chubby 2 Two band or a Thater 2 band bulb.
I exclusively face lather soaps, so I'm looking for backbone and good density. I don't mind a bit of scritch. I have a Rooney Heritage 2XL and I really like it.

The recommendations here will make the difference in my decision.
Thanks in advance to everyone.

Both.., :)

I had a Simpson 2 band I was happy with... I ended up trading it as it wasnt the perfect brush and I was looking for something a little softer with a bit more give. I have always had my eye on the Thater brushes but never got around to trying their two band variety.

I have a Thater 2-band 4292/6 28mm, which is the closest thing I own to my Rooney Heritage 3XL - very soft tips and great backbone. Is it the equal of my Rooney? Well, it's close, but I still think my Rooney 3XL is the best brush in my collection. If you want something closer to the Rooney spec-wise, try a 4125/2 (or the larger 4125/3). I don't own a Chubby, but my Simpson 59 is right up there with the Thater and Rooney. It isn't quite as soft as the other two, but has a bit more backbone. IMHO, you can't go wrong with either the Thater or the Simpson.

I own, use and absolutely love my Chubby 2 - 2 Band....great backbone, incredibly soft tips, great flow through, a soap eating lathering machine. You won't be disappointed if you choose this bad boy. BTW, I too face lather and basically use only soaps...Good luck!

Thanks Greg! I'm leaning slightly toward the Chubby right now, but I'm ready to hear from some folks that own Thater 2 bands to convince me otherwise.

I own both and really like both. However, if you made me pick just one it would be the Chubby 2-band. I find the soft tips and excellent backbone in the Chubby 2 two-band to be just right. The Thater is an excellent brush, but I would recommend it only if you wanted softer tips. The Thater has very soft tips and very good backbone, but if you like a bit more firmness from the knot, I would suggest the Chubby2.

Thaeter! I have the two-band brush that SRP had made last year, and it is great, one of the best two-band hairs I have used. Mine is a fan shaped and second to my Rooney XL the softest brush in two-band I have. I have only one Simpson two band brush left, a Polo 8 which I think is the best Simpson brush I ever had.

Thank you Chris and Rudy! This is such a difficult decision.
It's 2 to 1 for the Chubby by my count so far.

Thäter bulb without a doubt as the first pick!!

That's a given, but if you had to pick...
This is really about which one I'll get first.

I like the octagonal Thater handle more than I like the one on the Chubby two, but in terms of knot feel I completely concur.

Either way both are great brushes and you can't go wrong whichever you choose.

Just got the Thater 2 band two days ago and love it! The backbone is excellent so if you're a face latherer it will work perfectly and the tips are extremely soft. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Good luck!

This is a close call. I have large hands, so the handle on the Thater might be difference maker.

I sold a Thater 2 Band about a year ago on BST. It was literally the only thing I have sold on BST that I have really regretted. To the point that it was just eating me up. I recently purchased another Thater 2 Band and all is right in the world again. Might just be the perfect shaving brush.

I count 5 for Thater and 3 for CH2. It's looking like Thater right now. I'll wait and see if the CH2 closes the gap vote wise.

The Thater 4292 is on my wish list. It would be helpful if you'd get one and post that it doesn't work for you...and then sell it to me.
