A bit of a daft question but still newwhen using this powder how do you know when you need to change it on your strop, by the colour fading/razor not sharpening? and when you change it do you go over whats on the strop or clean and apply new?
I have it on a balsa paddle strop. I haven't ever considered cleaning it off as it pretty much goes into the balsa. I have my powder in a dropper bottle mixed with a liberal amount of Lexol. When I refresh it I just put a few drops on the balsa and wipe it over the surface with a soft cloth.
I usually refresh it when it starts to take longer to get my edge back. In all honesty, it doesn't need to be refreshed very often. I think in the last 6 months I might have added more CrOX two or three times.
It smooths out, almost shiny if it's on a cotton or linen as I have it on mine. I use a balsa hone with crox but haven't seen any change in it so I'm not sure what to expect but Im sure it will be something similar.
I've just wiped the entire area that needs to be replaced with a towel,I don't really think it needs it though. Then just apply it on top again.
