Chosera 800

I finally broke down and bought a Chosera hone several weeks ago. I went with the 800 instead of the 1000 for a couple of reasons. Just wanted to say I love this hone. There's not much I can say in way of praise for Chosera that hasn't been said on these forums, and even after reading much of it I was still skeptical that they were that good... but I'm a believer. Awesome stone... great feedback, fast, forgiving... just easy to use. I will probably buy the 3k.

That's all I had. :)

I just got a Chosera 1K recently and kick myself for going without it for a year. Listen to the advice of many, many people -get one. I've heard the 800 is very nice as well, so I'm sure either would be nice.

I don't find either of them, the 800x or the 1k, to be messy to be honest.
I think messy has more to do with the honer than the hone.

For Gamma, or anyone else who has used a full Chosera progression... what are your thoughts on following your bevel setter with the 5k? Is it too big a jump, or does it work ok?

I find the green slurry of the Chosera 1K when it drips off the stone stains anything that it touches, other than that it is a great stone.

No, I go right to a coticule or (close your ears Doc) 9um film.

When I was using the full set of Choseras, I followed the 1k with the 3k.
1k,3k, 5k was an ideal progression for me.
The 5k polishes very well, but the 3k does a better job at removing the 1k scratches. The 5k always left some, even with extra work.

When I got my Chosera 1K about one year ago I was always using it with a light slurry made with my DMT 325. Used this way this stone is actually a bit messy and, as Doc says above, stains everything green. Anyway, I started noticing that many guys were using it with plain water only and, in order to avoid the green stuff around, I tried myself. I got pretty good results and, honestly speaking, I find no difference in performance with slurry and without. By the way, there's a nice video made by Lynn where he is setting a bevel with the Chosera 1K with plain water on top. It's here.
