What's new

chipped nib

I got my first fountain pen ( a Parker 45 I believe) recently in a PIF from another B&B member and I was absolutely loving it. might have another addiction. well yesterday I dropped it on the floor and it hit tip first. :scared: now it looks like the bit at the end (nib?) is chipped. is this part replaceable? and if so where can I get the piece?

This is what the 45 should look like, and to me, it looks just like yours. Am I missing something in your photo?

I can't tell from the photo either, but 45 nibs are easily available, and even easier to change! Look on the bay, you can get a new nib delivered around $10-15 probably.

Now half as wise
Tipping can be replaced. For a cost. I did it for a vintage Parker Duofold Big Red, but would just get another nib for the 45.

thanks for the feedback guys. yes, one of the tips has chipped off. I looked at it under a magnifying lens today. where is the best place to get a new nib? a quick google search didnt turn up much.

That pic shows it missing much clearer, at least on my phone. I found a new 45 nib on eBay for around $10 I think. It was from a guy in NY, but I do not remember his name.

Wonder if you could hone a nib, works for chips in straight blades,

may never write again but think of how long you could take shaving with it

On the plus side you get a new NIB for the pen either way, best of luck
