Chinese DE Razors

I've been shaving with DE safety razors since August and I can honestly say, I'm hooked! I've managed to acquire a small collection of Vintage Gillettes (a couple of SS & several Techs), a Permeade, and a EJ89. I love them & use all of them from time to time. After seeing several members in B&B talk about Weishe, Vincent, ect and other different Chinese made DE razors.....I'm thinking about taking the plunge and trying one out. Does anyone have any thoughts about which Weishe model is the best? Or what other Chinese made DEs are worth trying? When I go to Amazon or the Bay, there are several different models of Weishe razors ect to choose from. I like mild shavers as you an tell my my collection. What are your thoughts on Chinese DE??

If you've already got a super speed I wouldn't bother with the Weishi. I like the Flying Eagle razor set, usually under $5 with free shipping.

+1

The Weishi is nothing more than a very cheaply made attempt at copying a Superspeed; an attempt which seriously fails in my opinion.

Rumor has it that the models that have something other than an aluminum handle are better quality, but I have no experience with those.

if you have a ss or a tech you will have no need for the chinese stuff, as ml has said, they are a bad copy, the tech copy flying eagle is not too bad, but the tto razors i have tried are garbage.

Thank you guys for the information....I guess I have a slight case of the RAD and want to try DE from everywhere....right now I'm into vintage razors and I'm looking for a SS blue tip....

Although vintage razors are fun, there are now several DE razors actually being made in the USA (not just designed and/or sold here). If you have RAD, you might as well expand your desires. ;-)

I think all Weishi razors have same design with varying color of metal and sold with or without case.

I would not bother buying it, as you already have the original Gillette ones (sorry, I am lying, I did it).

But if you really really want you should try the Rimei razor below, costs half price of cheapest Weishi (shipped) and with equal or better quality manufacture and a nice shave.

Or you can look for SILVER TONE RAZOR at eBay from UXCELL seller, appears to be the same a little cheaper.

Try a Cadet, or RazoRock Razor instead. Quality, nicely plated Twist to Open, and Three Piece Razors that are being made in India. Pricing is quite good as well.

I had the nickel plated brass Weishi. very nicely made but, as many will point out, it was a fairly toothless razor: no bite.

Here's a Chinese razor set I was thinking about picking up. The cap is extra wide to cover the blade tabs (similar to the Barbasol). Also the travel case has a linticular cartoon on the front. The Chinese travel razor sets are awesome, just don't spend more than six or seven bucks for one.
