Cheap injector blades.

First, let me say I don't have an injector and don't know anything about injector blades. I've noticed people talking about how expensive injector blades are. I ran across this site tonight.

box of 100 injector blades - $13.00

I did a search but I could not find any mention of this website on these forums. Anybody used these? These are the correct blades, aren't they? Like I said, I don't know anything about injectors.

Their main site also has a link to request a sample.

Edit: just noticed they have a minimum $100 limit on orders.

those injector blades are not PTFE coated so I would imagine they are pretty rough and not intended for shaving.

Does PTFE have any real effect on a blade that's used to shave whiskers? I've seen this claimed many times here, but I'm hugely skeptical. To me it sounds like marketing speak, but with scant theory and no evidence to back it up. The lubricating effect of a PTFE coated blade might be useful for slicing tissue with a microtome. But for something the thickness of human whiskers, any lubricating effect would seem negligible. I'll venture to guess that PTFE has no effect on a blade's ability to cut because it's remarkably less durable than steel, the substance that actually holds an edge long enough to cut more than one hair. Any such coating at the very edge of a blade would immediately be worn away.

I don't know if the shave would necessarily be rougher. I have some vintage Pal stainless steel injector blades which do not appear to be coated with anything special, and they give as good a shave as anything I've tried so far. The first couple did rust after only about five shaves, though.

I have plenty of injector blades, though. No incentive to try these.

I agree. My favorite blades are Treet carbon steel which, as far as I know, have no coatings of any kind.

I also have some vintage gold injector blades in a gold dispenser marked Eversharp Hydro-magic that work very well, and again I doubt they have any type of coating because they too rust.

AFAIK the PFTE coating on the injector blade has no bearing on how sharp the blade is or how good the shave will be. The coating is there only to prevent rusting and oxidization of the blade when in storage.
