Chantal tea kettle any good?

I just purchased a Chantal Tea Kettle. I have gone through several stove top tea kettles in the past 5 years. I had a Copco that I thought was junk. I then purchased a $50 kitchenaid which was a step up from the Copco. I just accidentally turned the wrong burner on and it burnt the tea kettle (brown marks on the inside and outside).

I wanted a nice tea kettle that wouldn't break the bank but will last me a long time (as long as I don't leave it on a burner without water again).

I found a Chantal at TJ MAxx on clearance for $29. I was hesitant because I didn't know what they retail for but I ended up purchasing it.

I got home and found that several retailers sell it for $119!!!!!!!! The lowest I found it was for $110 on Amazon!!!!

It seems decent. I would never purchase it for $119 or anywhere close but for $29 it was a steal.

the handle gets hot, but otherwise we have had one for probably a decade and we like it!

I don't know if they came with a handle mitt but you can purchase one one their website for $2-3. Shipping is high at around $7

I am thinking about buying one but I will research more to see if I can buy locally or if they can lower the shipping.

My teakettle gets a lot of use, so I go through them more quickly then I'd like. I like the Le Crueset kettle....they're fairly inexpensive and come in several colors. They do eventually get rust spots on the bottom. Another one I like is from DeMeyere. Their stuff is excellent, but the kettles may be too large for some. I like the thick aluminum disk in the bottom and the nice stainless finish.
I always get mine from A Cooks' Wares.

I just use the 6 dollar one from wal mart it get used at least 10 times a day every day.

I will have to look for those. Is it just a universal handle mitt or one specifically designed for tea pots?

Le Crueset I also was considering but I don't have a store that sells those close to me and I came across the Chantal first.

Re handle mitts, I think we had or still have a silicone one. Not worth bothering with though. It seems it is not that the handle gets hot from conduction up through the handle from the body of the kettle, but that hot air flows around the body from the stove and heats the handle as it drift off into space. So if you leave the mitt on the handle the mitt gets pretty darn hot, too. Easier just to grab the handle with a pot holder or a kitchen towel, etc. Nice kettle. Good looking. Long lasting.

Lately we have been using an electric water kettle to heat water for tea and the like. Stunningly fast. Really must be experienced to be believed. Almost all metal. Just north of $20 at Target. I am told that in some places, I guess Britain, they would look askance at one for putting a kettle on the stove to heat water. I guess the idea is that it seems way overdone to fire up an entire stove top just to heat some water.
