What's new

changing font colors.

is there a way to change the font color so that way i would post in a color of my choice and not the default color? when i change it in the post window and hit the enter button to add another line the font changes back to the default color.

It's incredibly narcissistic and annoying. We'd rather you didn't.

maybe then remove the option if you do not want people to do it. would that not eliminate the problem?

Then normal people who would use the function as it was intended, to emphasize, or highlight a word or phrase would be out of luck simply because some people pay more attention to the appearance of what they write instead of the content. :w00t:

Making every word in every post in a non-standard font or color makes posts difficult to read.
There was a guy a few years back who simply had to make every single post in a specific font and a specific color. The time he spent doing that amazes me to this day. But he finally realized he couldn't keep doing it. Member after member asked him to please stop.
Finally it got to be too much for him. His artistic efforts were like pearls before swine.
Last I heard he had taken a work from home job for Crayola.

sorry i am not "normal". i do not mind a bit of style with the content.

ok i see you all want to make this a pissing match. you all win, considering you are mods. but to speak this way to a member, especially a new member i would think would be against mod rules of the site. here i thought rules like being respectful to other members were for everyone that is on the forums, guess i thought wrong.

i apologize to the members of this site for this going on. but i refuse to be belittled by people i do not know over a simple question.

mods lock or delete this post as you see fit. answer asked and answered.

Why so serious Batman?

No, seriously - I think folks answered the question. There's a bit of fun there, and a bit of poking, but it's certainly not intended to inflame or beat you down.
If my post gave you that impression, I sincerely apologize.

Really, though, the colored posts and bizarre fonts are just difficult to read, and once they start, other members start reporting them as disruptive.
What may seem a fine color on one persons monitor, can be a migraine inducing monster in different lighting, or with a small mobile device screen, or with the underground skin for people who read in the dark.

P.S. In the "Internet World", humor in a post is generally signified by the placement of one or more "smileys"

luvmysuper: sorry for my posts. sometimes the internet does not translate intentions well. i misread the posts as trying to belittle me and my defenses went right up.

again i apologize to you and everyone here for my misinterpretation.

i can take ball busting and jokes and can give it right back. just did not read the posts that way.

With the written word, it's very difficult to express intent or emotion.
If you have a dry sense of humor, it can be even worse.
It's a good point for all of us to remember from time to time, to ensure that what we write is indeed taken as we meant it to be.

Was his name Stan and did he do lunch with Springs1?

Yes, a good point to remember. If you assume everyone is breaking the rules all the time and you overbuy into the "I am a beloved moderator" bit, then the ban buttons and the thread close buttons become the tool of the bully (who was himself probably bullied) rather than, say.... Moderation.

Yes, indeed.... A good point for us all to remember from time to time.....

No smileys here.

If one does not like the policies of the forum, they are free to leave.
It's a free country, but it's a privately owned forum.

Many of us like the forum because of some of these policies.
As mentioned above, altering font sizes and colors for things other than to highlight something makes it difficult to read on some monitors (and eyes), and comes across as "look at me".
It's the quickest way for many to have the opposite of the desired effect, same as posting without page breaks, capitalization, or punctuation.

Care to PM me with a specific issue or complaint?
I'll do what I can to help.
I guarantee we can accomplish more through that avenue than for us to try to decipher a passive aggressive ambiguous post.

Pretty strong words from someone who was banned and returned with a new account. :thumbdown
