Changing Arko Fragrance?

I tried Arko stick for the first time this week.

That lather - wow! Mounds of creamy slick lather. Great shave. Awesome price.

But unfortunate scent.

I understand that if you leave the stick out to 'air' it gets milder. But has anyone ever tried to change the scent of Arko? For e.g. by milling it and adding EO before reconstituting? If I could re-scent Arko - that would make it perfect for me.

Heretic.

I actually like the scent but can't use it because it is too drying.

Tampering with the scent of Arko could send dangerous ripples through the space/time continuum.

Proceed with caution my friend.

If you gotta re-scent the soap...I'd suggest trying elsewhere or nose plugs!

The scent of Arko has never, ever bothered me. But for those who just don't dig it, the solution is quite simple. Unwrap the whole thing and then go put it somewhere in the open air...shelf in the garage, back of the medicine cabinet; it matters not. Forget it's there for a few months. Use something else in the interim. Return to the scene after a while to find your beloved Arko is now devoid of any offending odor. How 'bout that??

Thanks for all the advice all. This 'airing' might indeed be the only solution to moderate the scent a bit. I came to the conclusion that grating/scenting is likely to have limited success (if any) and more importantly - is probably not worth the hassle.

Infact, I poured some essential oil on one end of the stick last night and was proud because the stick smelled of the EO immediately after. Fast forward to this morning - it again smells of Arko and the EO scent has been drowned out completely.

As someone said "Arko owns everything it touches"

Im wondering if putting it in a used coffee tin would help?
coffee flavoured arko, maybe worth a try.

The best, most infallible way of changing Arko's scent is to use an entirely different soap. This method has never failed me. :w00t:

That wretched Arko scent hangs onto everything it touches like grim death. Get out now while you can before your wife and your dog leave you, your truck breaks down, and your boss fires you. :001_tongu

Besides, should you really have to air out a soap for a couple weeks before you can use it?

The longer you leave Arko out to air out, the more the scent will dissipate. Even one day make a difference, but if you want a significant change, it'll take a month.

When I bought my arko shave stick, the packaging was kind of sub-par and the stick was split into 3/4 and 1/4 chunk. I left the 3/4 as it was and mushed the 1/4 into a shaving bowl.

If you want, I'll try microwaving it and adding an AS into it to see how it works. I'll post the results here for everyone.

Lemon essential oil is very inexpensive. Two drops on your brush or in your bowl will clean up the artificial Arko scent.

I just bought my first ever Arko stick. When it arrived, I eagerly unwrapped it to smell its fragrance. I immediately started laughing because everything I had read about the scent finally made sense. While not objectionable, it's just silly to think someone actually thought, "Yup, men will love rubbing this industrial cleaner scent all over their face."
