CB Radios

I recently put a magnet mount CB antena on my car and considering a do a LOT of traveling, I found the CB Radio to be priceless. I have the Wilson 1000 with a 62 inch whip, but it is too high for my SUV (can't use drive thru, parking garage, etc.) I am considering buying a Wilson Lil Wil, which is a magnet mount and a 36 inch whip. I hate to spend more money but, I need a smaller antenna. Any comments or advice?

That is what my dad used to do with the one on top of the Suburban. He always had it on the roof right over the driver's side door so he only needed to open the window reach up and grab it. Although I think it was only 36" antenna.

They are good sources of info. The truckers are quick to report where speed traps and traffic jams are. My grandfather had one in the 80s, and had a trucker come help him when his car broke down- he gave him a ride to the next town. Drivers are usually pretty good guys.

Brings back a flood of memories. That's where my membername came from, a friend who suggested I use it for communicating on the CB radio in the 70s. He was killed in a car wreck in the 80s and I have used "California Cajun" in all internet dealings since in his memory.

Haven't used the CB in probably over 30 years, so I don't really have any advice. But I did enjoy reliving some of the fun I had with one.
