Cartridge razor when you have to.

I occasionally need to use cartridges.
Recently I have been using the Fusion razor by Gillette. It's been ok but not great. I put it down to being used to the great DE shaves I get.
I stayed at a friends house for the last few days and he lent me a sensor excel to use. Wow is all I have to say.

That thing shaved much better than the Fusion and it is technology that is 10 years old or more. I've been paying $4 a cartridge for Fusion when the Sensor cartridges are only $2 and give me a closer much better shave.

If you use a Fusion, give the Sensor Excel by Gillette a go. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Now I have a custom Fusion handle by eShave for sale. :tongue_sm

I only used a Sensor when I was in the Army.
Of course the carts where so cheap in the PX compared to off post

Why not buy a bag of Bic Metals and keep them around for emergencies instead? They're cheaper, better, and most importantly, make no illusions about where they belong once you're done with them.

When ya got no choice - consider an Atra with the lube strip blades - good old basic two blade with pivoting head - they work really well and the blades are still available.

Only when ya gots to!

The only blade I'd reach for if I couldn't shave DE...

Well, really, I'd grab my injector or take up straights, but YMMV. :tongue_sm

The only time I use cartridges is when I travel or am in a hurry. I have some very nice after market Trac II handles that I like a lot and I pair them with Merkur carts. I get a surprisingly good shave with them. I do agree that the Sensor with the pivoting head gives a very good shave. I still have some handles but no carts.

Cheers,

Doug

Atra Plus for me, too. And I can use the even cheaper aftermarket version without problems. Three blades and up are no good to me.

About 10 months after beginning to use a DE I decided to take my Sensor on a trip instead of packing my DE gear. Although I shaved with a cartridge razor for probably 40 years before using a DE, I butchered my face twice with the Sensor. It was like I never shaved before. Wound up going unshaven for most that vacation. Couldn't wait to get home to my DE. Next vacation, the DE goes. No more cartridges, even in a pinch.

Just used one today when i was in a hurry; lathered up some Tabac w/ an Omega Boar professional and went to town-nice and easy 1 passer.

I prefer the Sensor system myself. I haven't yet tried the latest/greatest expense systems yet from Schick or Gillette.

I still use my Sensor Excel. If you change the cartridge frequent enough, and prepare your beard the traditional way, you can get a really smooth shave.

I still have handles for sensor excel, mach3, mach3 turbo, fusion and fusion power in the den. But when traveling with only hand luggage I prefer the green Bic sensitive or the Bic Metals. If I do not have any more left in the den I go for the fusion since I still have a couple of unused cartridges left.

my favourite cartidge is the schick quattro.
i find it lasts the longest and i get the best shave from it.

i've never tried the excel before. i might give it a go.
