Carbon Steel Treet, good enough to buy 100?

I have never tried Treet blades before, but prefer to buy blades in bulk if I like them. These blades are so cheap in bulk that you can turn a sample purchase into a 100 blade bulk purchase by just adding $10. The only concern I have is sitting on 90 Treet blades that I decided I don't like.

For those of you who have tried them, did you like them enough to repurchase? Do you keep a supply of them around?

(I should say, I like blades to be smooth first and sharp second - so they can be both smooth and sharp, just not harsh and sharp. Right now, I like Personna Red, Green PermaSharp Gillette, and like the performance of Astra blades. I follow the two and out rule and store blades in a dry place, so rust is not a concern to me in the least.)

i bought 100 classic treet carbon steel from the Bay and i have used about 3 of them. they are good. Not super awesome. i would rat them 7 out of 10.

Are you talking about the "Black Beauties"? If so, I would warn you that they don't tend to last for more than a couple of shaves. I've tried about twenty different blades, and they dull more quickly than any of the others I've used. I blame it on the fact that they rust very quickly. The first shave is decent, but the performance rapidly drops off. You could probably get two good shaves, as long as you aren't rotating razors and blades. I tend to have several razors loaded at a time, and the Treets dont do well with this system. On vacation, when using a single razor, I can get a second or third day with one. I know that Astra SP blades can be found for under $10/100 shipped, and I find them to not only last longer, but to be better from shave one.

Ahh, I'm in luck! I only use blades twice (max three times) and only keep one razor loaded at a time. But, the initial responses suggest that these blades are not all I had hoped they may be. I'll wait for a bit more guidance before making the decision.

I would agree with the previous posters in general. The blades five two good shaves, sometimes three, and clearly like a good slick lather. I have had no rust at all. While I would not choose them as my only go to blades, I have to say that i have been pleasantly surprised and could certainly live with these blades. If the Astra SP is available for less, I would recommend those as well. And most importantly, these are our opinions and experience, but you might find these blade to be a delight...try them first and see what you think before you pull the trigger on the 100.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like conses is that they are fine blades, but nothing out of the ordinary for performance. I think I will pull the trigger on 10 of them, then see how they work out.

Just a followup. Thanks, the suggestions were spot on

I ordered a batch of these to try. As the suggestions predicted, they are a nice blade to use, though they bring nothing special to the table. They remind me of Red Personna's but lack a bit of the smoothness, I also feel like I detect slight inconsistencies comparing one Treet blade to the next. Glad I have some, but not really go-to-blade material.

Also, I found no trouble with rust whatsoever.
