Canon 17-55 vs Sigma 17-50+30mm 1.4

G'day folks,

Recently upgraded to a 7D Canon body and am looking at standard zooms hence the title.

I still have the 18-55IS and 55-250IS as well as 17-85 and 100-300 USM glass from my old EOS film days.

Question is I'm looking for a good, fast walkaround and I also like to shoot indoors. I can get both sigmas for the price of the canon 17-55 but have been stalled by many online forums quoting AF issues with Third Party lenses in the 7D. The idea of a zoom plus fast prime appeals, IQ appears comparable across the zooms and that prime will allow me to get some good bokeh and play around with shallow DOF.

Any thoughts?

I don't have any specific feedback but am also keen to find out as the 7D is on my list of possible body upgrades at the moment.
