Canning supplies 50% off

Thanks for the heads up. My boss is heading up the beach next week so I need to see if he can grab a couple cases for me.

I just picked up a case of twelve 125ml mason jars but wasn't sure I'd get much use out of them as they're really small. That was three days ago and I only have three left now. That size is perfect for any 50g (~2oz) tin that is around half empty or less.

Question: 50g tins/cans of tobacco fit snugly into 250ml jars and easily into 500ml jars. I'm wondering which is better--to have it packed into a smaller jar with not much air space left or in a larger jar with plenty of air space left. I remember reading something about bacteria and other microorganisms on the tobac needing air to ferment/age optimally.

They do require some air but not much I tend to pack my jars pretty tight. As long as they are not in a true vacuum they'll age well, aerobic microbes can do their thing before anaerobic processes take over.

When you say canning supplies, do you mean pressure cookers (I have been looking for one) or just mason jars?

I only know of the jars and pectin (of course, not necessary for tobacco :001_smile).

on edit: again, for some reason, posts are showing up center aligned (or justified, for the old timers)
