Can Polymer clay be used for scales?

Polymer clay is pretty cheap and easy to work with so I wonder if anyone has any experience with it for restoring razor scales.

Hey
I worked with polymer clay for years in a bead factory and managed to make a knife sheath from it, it's not as good as Kydex. It's possible but I think it would be difficult to get an excellent finish unless perhaps you were to put a clear acrylic and get a shine on that. It's also not stiff enough and would need to be attached to aluminium or something. Interesting thought tho, I used to make pictures, such as lions, dolphins and some wicked patterns. The problem always was how to get a good finish and take it that step away from crafts. I tried sanding and polishing with some success but I still think a clear coating is your best bet

I tried various polymer clays with no sucess. Some clays are very soft and flexible after baking while others are hard and brittle. YMMV
