Can Chrome be stained?

I have a '59 Red tipped Super Speed that appears as though It may be slightly stained. If only razors could talk... This thing was very dirty when I received it, and It cleaned up pretty well. It is not as shiny as some other immaculate examples that I have seen, and it has obviously been well used, but there is no plate loss. There are what appear to be wispy white "stains?" on some sections of the razor. I have soaked and scrubbed this thing with scrubbing bubbles and CLR, and have tried to polish with brasso, and these whispy white stains refuse to budge. If it is stained, would MAAS do any good? I havent ordered any yet, but I hear it is the best.

They might be water marks.

Watch using BRASSO...it's pretty abrasive! :scared: The same manufacturer makes SILVO which specifies that it's for silver and nickel. I use it with good results.
MAAS is definitely preferred option for you in the States :001_smile

The SS is nickel plated, not chrome. Nickel takes a lot of abuse, and will clean up nicely. "Water stains" usually respond well to Simichrome or MAAS. You may not get them 100% out, but should be able to reduce their appearance while deepening the shine.

Good luck . . .
