What's new

Can anyone tell me what this is?

What is the thing in the lower right-hand corner that looks like a tiny handle and head?

I can not name it, but there are several makers of mini razors that are said to have be made for various personal shaving needs.

Interesting I'll have to see when I get it. It looks like it may be incomplete, also where would one get blades for it? (Rhetorical question I think).

I saw at an antique store a completely round open comb razor. What would that be for?

As Alex illustrates, these miniature razors were made for Ladies mostly. I have a tiny Darwin Ladies razor and another English made one. Although vintage blades are still around, they cannot be used for shaving, so these little razors are for interest only as modern blades are only made in the standard size.

There were a few round headed razors. Shermack was one, which is like a regular 3 piece but with a round head. Collins was another, which featured a rotating head.

out of curiosity, why could the vintage blades not be stropped and used? The 1959 Gillette I just bought had a blade in it and it looked fine, I didn't use it, of course because it was easy to replace. But if a blade was not replacable, could it not be sanitized sharpened enough to try--especially if it was in the package?

They are too small to resharpen and would not retain a sharp edge.
