I recently bought this 1918 460B "Old Type" Standard set. It has the #102 (thin) cap, as would be expected of a pre Aug 1921 Old Type.
But, there are certain oddities about it. I've searched in all the usual places for answers, but haven't found what the answers. So, it's time to field this question to you guys.
Are these things special, odd, normal? I hope someone can educate me.

- The patent numbers (Pat.No.Nov.04.N) on the inner tube go around in the top lip of the tube, rather than being stamped length wise. I haven't seen any other examples of this.
- What does the "N" in the patent number mean?
- The serial number is on the band, just above the knob on the handle. I thought this occurred only later, on the post 1921 models.
- There are no numbers on the inside, on top of the comb. I thought this also came later, after 1921.
- Instead of numbers, the Gillette diamond (sans arrow) is stamped twice: once on the bottom inside of the cap, and again on the top of the comb. I can't find any examples of this.
- Mine has that "G inside a D" on the bottom of the comb. What is this supposed to mean?
- Finally, the case seems to be typical except for the fact that it has a little sewn in patch with the Gillette logo on it. From all the examples I have seen, the norm seems to be a large silk-screened logo.
