Can any shaving soap function as a shave stick?

Hello Gents,
I recently purchased a number of shave soaps. I am short on shave bowls and was wondering if I could just use them as shave sticks?
I found mama bears empty tubes and am considering milling or melting into the tubes. If you have done this can you give me some pointers?

If you mill into a tube, you've got to compact the bejabbers out of the soap or it can get crumbly.

Why not just grab the puck and use it as a big, round, flat shaving stick?

I just grab a puck and wirl it on my face, works faster than a shave stick and there's no hassle of milling or melting stuff. It's just a chunk of soap, there's nothing special about shave sticks, even tough I like them.

I do the same. I never lather into a bowl unless the soap is specifically meant to be used that way, like my Wilkinson Sword Shave Bowl.

I have used a cheese grater and grated up some pucks into fine soap shavings and then put into the Mama Bear tubes and used a dowel to compact the shavings. Works like a charm.

I did this but I used my fingers to stamp them down. I just put screwed the tube about half the way up and started there. Once I filled that up I screwed it down and filled it again until it was full or I ran out of soap. It was one of the smartest (OK, one of the only smart) things I've ever done.

I was thinking of cutting a large soap into a few sticks. I can probably get three decent sized sticks out of a large bar without having to mill and tamp.

Thanks

When I mill soaps into sticks, I like to drop the whole thing sealed up into some hot water for a while then pop them into the freezer. That way, it softens up a bit all the way through then firms up into a solid mass.

Just rub the puck on your face it works the same as a stick. But half the fun of this hobby (madness) is experimenting with soaps. Just do not heat up a hard milled soap in the microwave.
