Callega Pau-Ferro Cegadede Silvertip 26mm

Looks like a nice wooden handle:

Wikipedia says that "pau ferro" is caesalpinia ferrea, aka Brazilian ironwood or Bolivian rosewood. Is that right?

Judging by the sources of the images I linked above, it seems like this brush is mostly mentioned in Portuguese or Spanish forums. As far as I can tell it was a custom job by an artisan knife maker: http://www.callega.com/site/contato - and http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?75645-Some-Brazilian-Hardwoods suggests that he has pretty good English.

If contacting JHC does not work out, another option might be to get Rudy Vey or another brushmaker to make something similar for you.

Thanks for all you trouble, as you say if it's so "out there" I'll have to get one made. I love that brush ! lol

That's a very intriguing brush. If you do end up with one, let us know what it's like.

She tells me that wood, from the Amazon, is no longer available. I've asked what woods she has as I'm more interested in the shape. She has only short loft Silvertip left so I'll have to think hard about ordering one.

Callega is a fine artisan, and a valued member of the Portuguese/Brazilian community (www.barbearclassico.com). Highly recommended. :thumbup1:

The name of that brush comes from the wood used in that handle (Pau-ferro) and from the nickname of the original owner of the brush (cegadede, a Brazilian member that is also a member here at B&B).
