Calibrating the HHT

Saw this site in a news article today:

Someone want to do some experiments and find the best hair for HHT? We can then distribute it and have a calibrated test.

;-)

LOL....are you trying to stir the pot, good sir? Not enough heated discussions lately for you perhaps? :biggrin1:

A globally calibrated HHT test?! No more mild disagreements and different ways of saying "ymmv" repeatedly. The post count on B&B would plummet, we'd have to shut down..

If there was a way to use a synthetic hair of some type and uniform thickness etc. maybe. But I love the hht posts. As was said there would be much less cussing and swearing. Im lucky as I have a 15 y/o daughter that has the same hair as I do. Only thing is when i borrow her brush, she tells me to buy her another one and that one is somehow double the price of the old one. Cant win for losing.

I have been using badger hair from a knot that was damaged and it's amazingly consistent. We could have a mascot badger named B&B Bob (like Puxetawny Phil the ground hog) and for a modest fee, a moderator will steal a few hairs off of Bob to settle the HHT argument.

Even with standardized hair, the test wouldn't be. Distance, angle, the particulars of the motion, there are plenty of significant variables still in play.

Unless someone made an HHT machine that was fed the consistent hair and did it the same way every time. I'll do it. Send me your razors. 10 bucks for an extensive HHT report. I'll give you all kinds of stats.

You know, honestly that would be a pretty easy machine to build. Find yourselves a CmpE major with a robotics specialty and they could build one as a 300 or 400 level robotics class project.

Oh do send out the plans so we can print our own via Stereolithography.
