I had heard great things about Burberry London so I went to check it out at a department store, but I alos tried John Varvatos, and really liked it as well. I'm thinking of getting both and using them as my go to cold weather fragrances this year. Thoughts?

The Burberry London is pretty solid, especially for a mass production fragrance. I don't care for the Varvatos, but YMMV.
I don't remember the Varvatos, but I have owned and enjoyed London.
+1. But, both certainly cold weather fragrances.
I'd recommend getting a sampler of the Burberry London and wearing it a few days to see if it lasts on you. It is easily in my Top 5 in terms of scent but even with 4-6 sprays (I'm usually a 1-2 spray person) it's undetectable on me just a few hours after applying. Regular John Varvatos is a solid scent as well, but I find Varvatos Vintage to be the best of the line.
Own both. I use Burberry London quite a-bit more. Varvatos is good though, and I always receive compliments from it. Its strong and a little goes a long way though. Have to be careful to not overdo it.
