Bulldog handles

Can anyone tell me if the Weber Bulldog is equivalent to the Ikon Bulldog handle? They LOOK the same in every respect except price. I want to pair it with an EJ DE89 head.

Appreciate any input. Thanks. :001_unsur:001_unsur

Members did a comparison when weber bulldog first came out. I am merely repeating the same as I only have weber's

A. Ikon looks more polished
B. ikon is slightly longer.

There was a thread comparing the two with good pictures, but I can't locate it right now. The Weber is 1g heavier than the Ikon. The knurling is also slightly different with the Ikon looking a little more refined.

Thank you, everyone. Did not find the direct comparison, only both handles compared w/others. It's settled, the Weber handle wins. My 'frugal' nature prevails.

*The Ufo U2V1 is 12mm in diameter, 80mm in length. In my opinion, having had all three, the Ufo handle is the best of the bunch; beautiful craftsmanship. Although the Weber and the Ikon are also very nice handles, indeed.

Can anyone compare either of these two handles to the U2 or Kaiser?

The original Bulldog is indeed a work of superb craftsmanship, but the cost is prohibitive to me. SWMBO is tolerant, but that purchase would set her head spinning, and there would be no need for me to ever shave again. :scared:

I replaced my EJ DE89 handle with a Bulldog and love it. I was hesitant because of the cost, plus the original handle was better looking. After using the EJ89 with the Bulldog, I have no regrets. I love it and have not used the original handle since getting the Bulldog. It gives the razor a nice heavy feel and seems to let the weight of the razor do the work better. As a bonus, I haven't had a nick since replacing the handle. You will really like it if you try it.

I have a Weber bulldog handle paired with my FaTip Piccolo head in nickel.
My R41 is on a Ikon bulldog.

The handles are very similar. As others have said, the Weber is slightly heavier. The Ikon does have more of a shine while the Weber's finish is a bit flatter. The knurling on the Ikon is finer but the Weber has deeper gaps which provides ample grip.
I am very happy with both.
The Weber is a great deal for the price. And I think I saw in a thread that the Ikon handles can be found for cheaper than they were in the past.

Here is a photo of my Weber Bulldog handle paired with an EJ head. The other razor is of course a Weber ARC.

Some razors benefit from a heavier handle. Some with a longer handle. Others like a shorter handle. A lot of it is personal preference. Keep mixing and matching until you find what works for you

Both of those are beautiful.

I have the Weber ARC on the Weber Bulldog. After buying the Weber I have not used my EJ at all. Currently my Ikon Bulldog is on my Fatip nickel plated head and this is a great combination as well. In my experience the heavier handles suit me, that is probably why I have a UFO Kaiser and Godzilla on order, both in 316 Stainless and looking beautiful.

:shaving:

I have a DE89 and I love the looks of that iKon handle. One of these days I am probably going to pull the trigger on one of those, but I am looking into getting a Merkur first.

If you're going for "frugal", the Kaiser isn't going to be in that crowd. On the other hand - my UFO Kaiser is an outstanding "big" handle.
