Brushless Creams

I would greatly appreciate some advice on some brushless creams. I remember reading the reviews and there were some good creams but now I can't remember which they are and it's a chore to go through them again. I just needed one when I'm away from home and don't have all the tools to get the job done. Thanks!

I have not tried it, but Nancy Boy is designed to be used brushless (although it also produces a rich lather with a brush), and is heavily raved about.

Kiss My Face is probably available locally, at natural food/ health food stores, and is also designed to be used brushless, although it also makes a rich lather when used with a brush. It's available in a multitude of scents, and is a great product.

I hate brushless creams, so I would suggest Nancy Boy. It is amazing with a brush, and I've heard it's pretty good without one.

Head Slick is available practically everywhere and I've found it works fantastic with or without a brush. In my neck of the woods it runs about $7. It's got a very nice mentholated feel and fragrance as well.

I'll second what John said about Kiss My Face. I've used the fragrance free, lavender, and mint varieties, haven't tried any of the others. Great cream for a ridiculously low price.

Kiehl's has two totally brushless creams that are very good for varying skin types. Its very moist and you just dab them on let them sit or put a steam towel on top and shave and rinse. You need a really soaked face to mix with the cream so that it won't clump but they work and they also say you dont need any water at all to use.

Clinique Close Shave For Men, I used it all of the time before switching to DE &brush. It is very protective but will not lather under any circumstances. It goes on as a thin film that remains surprisingly effective.

Musgo Real excels as a brushless cream. If I need a quick emergency shave with not a lot of time to do it, Musgo Real and a J-Type Schick Injector get the call.

+1 on the kiehls. I like the blue eagle for a brushless, skin feels very protected. green eagle is mentholated if that's your thing.

All creams can be used brushless. The difference is that creams marketed as 'brushless' specifically CAN'T be used with a brush.

Soaps can be used brushless as well ... for a long time, I was just applying soap directly to my wet face, and rubbing up the lather by hand. I've done this with MWF, Tabac, L'Occ Cade, Williams, T&H Luxury, and I don't know how many different creams.

Although it doesn't produce the volumes of lather that a brush did, that didn't prevent me from getting an excellent shave from it, each and every time.

Another big advantage to going brushless is that it saves a lot of prep and clean-up time. And its one less piece of gear you need to pack with you when you travel.

If it works, use it. I've heard plenty of good and bad things about brushless creams and gels. What should matter to you is which one you've tried and has proven its reliability.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, I think I'll try the Kiss My Face cream because I found out they sell it in a health food store close to where I live. If I don't like it then I'll try one of the other creams y'all suggested. Again thanks!

Every Man Jack (EMJ) sold at Target is not bad as a brushless cream. And it's only $5. I am proud to say this is what I used before discovering DE wet shaving. At least it was not goop-in-a-can :blushing:

I think Proraso works great without a brush as well.

Personally I've gone back and forth and as far as time goes, it only takes me an extra minute or two to use a brush, and I do seem to get a better shave.

I recently got a sample of Provence Sante Green Tea shaving cream and used it without a brush and Sensor razor. Wow, what a scent, what a cream, what a shave! I did 2 passes, I rinsed a little after the 1st pass thinking that I'd have to apply cream again, but just rubbed my face a little and it started forming another thin layer of lather so I could do another pass without adding more cream. Skin was left very soft after. I think I'll have to splurge and spend $15 on a tube, just to keep around for "travel" purposes and to get high on the amazing scent. I suspect it will work really well with a brush too.
