Brushes make the best gifts?

What brushes made their way into your home this fine holiday season? A troika of small brushes, SR3118, Simpson Classic 1 and Rooney Heritage Stubby 1 now call Casa Beginish home.

I got myself a Rooney XL for my birthday (the 19th) and picked up a Eagle G3 yesterday off the B/S/T as a late Christmas present to myself . All and all a great holiday season.

Chubby 2 in 3 band super from SWMBO. All those not-so-subtle hints worked!

Chubby 2 in Best. A little scritchy, but lots of fun. If anyone can compare it to the Chubby 2 in Super three-band, I would appreciate it.

I wanted a variety of brushes so I got a Shavemac #25 (the early favorite), a Simpson Commodore X3, and a Semogue Owner's Club. I have been using a Kingsley brush up until recently (it's big and floppy but I like it).

David - Nice brushes. I'm wondering if you have a Chubby 1 that you could compare with the Classic 2. They have almost identical specs except for the weight, which may suggest the Classic 2 has a lighter handle, a less dense knot or a little bit of both. And the Classic 2 is almost $50 cheaper. I've always wondered about that.

Anyways, with some Christmas money that was received, I treated myself to a Chubby 1 in three banded super. It's en route as we speak and I'm hoping to use it for my first shave of 2011.

Well...technically gifts to myself :thumbup1:

  1. Simpson Chubby 2, 26mm, 3 band Super
  2. Simpson Chubby 1, 23mm, 2-band Super
  3. Shavemac D01, 24mm, 2-band, Silvertip
  4. Morris & Forndran, 24mm, 2 band, Blond badger

Kinda been on a B&B LE kick here lately. I got an Essential when those went on sale around the beginning of the month and i just got an 06 LE off of B/S/T a couple days ago.

Thanks Andrew. I don't have a Chubby1 but I will show you a photo that I took a couple of weeks ago to compare the Classic2 with a B+B Eagle and a Duke2. The comment that I made soon after the arrival of my Classic2 was that the brush is "all hair and no handle" ie it has a very large, dense knot and in that respect it would be comparable to a Chubby1.
Hope that this helps.

So that's how Mr Angry found his new home !!!!!

We heard a brawl outside and raced out to save 2 construction workers from a small, hairy guy from the Isle Of Man..........

Wife gave me 3 Franklins to get a brush or two, doing alot of window shopping right now

Now........ that is special! Enjoy the process.

overshot the Christmas landing pad thanks to the bumblers at Customs but thankfully arrived before the New Year.

No thanks to Customs.............. I'm sure that you had a great Christmas anyway! :001_cool:

and picked up a Eagle G3 yesterday off the B/S/T as a late Christmas present to myself .

And I can assure you it's boxed up and ready to go. I'm heading out a little early today to get the packages to the PO.

As for me, I've got a restored Rooney and Ever-Ready (both with TGN finest, the Ever-Ready extra-stuffed) and a Harvard H4 on the way. (I couldn't let the Eagle go without getting another Simpson's, of course.)

A Simpson Colonel X2L showed up under the tree from my wife. Brushes do make the best gift if you order what you want and let your wife wrap it. Great brush.
