Brush Restore Question

As you can see I drilled right through the top piece of the brush. I can fix it but I just wanted to know if anybody else had done this/what they used to do. I was thinking of just filling the bottom with epoxy since I'm going to use epoxy to set whatever knot I use. Yes, this will be my first one to re knot. I don't think it's an everready but it looks like the cool ones. It's probably a recent burma shave but I have always liked the red and white. Thanks in advance!!

Exactly as it should be! It is usually preferable to drill through the shelf and then refill the hollow with epoxy....epoxy mixed with bits of cork....epoxy mixed with bird-shot...epoxy and coins...you get the picture. This way you can set the replacement knot at what depth you want to give you the loft you are seeking. If you use coins/epoxy or some other heavy material it gives your brush a pleasant heft. Just fill it back up to the level you want you knot to set at and let it cure. Polish her up and then epoxy your knot in and you're good to go.

Do you have a knot ready to go for her?

Yep, I always prefer to drill them out, I have used epoxy or resin to fill them. I like doing it that way because it makes it much easier to set the loft you desire. Looking good.

+1 on what red wrote.FYI there is enough handle for enlarging to a 26 and still have some curve to the end.

You can fill the base with a cleaned, disinfected and dried wine cork, then put the epoxy right on top of it.

No don't have a knot ready. Just looking over TGN and trying to decide what I want. I've always wanted a bulb shape but I'm hearing they aren't very stiff, I'm also contemplating a good boar. Still leaning towards the bulb though. I think the idea would be to buy something then set it low so it's soft yet stiff yeah?

You can use plaster of paris .That is what they used in the day.If you want more weight you can drop a few nickels in the bottom.
Cheers ,Rocket
