Brush moulting.

Thanks to the joys of Badger & Blade, I have recently graduated to a more advanced level of shaving, including the adoption of a DE razor. So far, so good but I have found that having become much more meticulous in my lathering, my brush appears to be moulting more than it did in the past.

I have a couple of theories as to why this might be,

1. I am being much more vigorous in working up a lather.
2. I am immersing the brush in boiling water, which I did not do previously.

Is this normal? I am being too enthusiastic in my lathering? Is my brush, not terribly old and not of a terribly high quality, not up to the task at hand?

i wouldnt put the brush in boiling water - if its too hot for me to hold my hand in, its too hot for my brush.

Definitely stop using boiling water. I'm willing to bet the high heat is degrading the glue of your brush's knot. If your tap water isn't hot enough, then use it in conjunction with your boiled water to get a better temperature that's hot, but not too hot.

Thanks to all. I reckon the boiling water might be a problem, I picked that idea up someplace but it is obviously having a detrimental effect. I'll stop it at once!
