You missed the honing part? Comedy gold!I absolutely HATE these fake restoration videos.
There's a whole cottage industry of them where they "paint" water soluable "rust" mixtures onto stuff just to be able to video the removal.
Rust like that doesn't leave a smooth shiny surface like that under it.
The tang had the "rust" removed even though it wasn't submerged (1 min 34 sec).
I stopped watching after 2 minutes when it suddenly and magically transformed from a blackened mess to a bright shiny piece of steel.
Despicable fairy tale posted not for instruction but merely as a click generator for the consumption of the clueless who have no more idea of what a straight razor is than I do of what the magical blue liquid was.
"In Russia, time wastes you!"
I read some of the youtube comments and gathered that he had destroyed the temper and used some kind of knife sharpening guide. I just hate these fake videos, and the comments are all about how "relaxing" it is to watch, not about what a load of crap it is - so everyone who liked his video is obviously completely clueless. You missed the honing part? If nothing else, it is a cautionary tale about buying “restored” razors off the internet.
Yeah, everything from start to finish was a mess. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone “restore” something with so little understanding of the thing they were working on. It was remarkable.I read some of the youtube comments and gathered that he had destroyed the temper and used some kind of knife sharpening guide.
