British American Button Company (ABC)?

I do not have this razor, but I saw a photo of this case and the person has no additional information. It is unmistakeably an ABC Pocket Edition case with the patent dates on the back. However, there is a different 'Great Britain' stamp that I have never seen. Does anybody know anything about this?

I saw that one as well, Len. It's strange to see two of these at about the same time on eBay. But of the four ABC cases that I have, none of them have the extra Great Britian stamp on them. Somebody must know something ...

I´ve the same patent stamp on my Old Type set 460-B. Maybe it´s a british set, but the razor in my case is US made.

That's very good information, Achim. I have a theory about the stamp. Your 460-B was made in the US and I doubt that the ABC Co had a factory in the UK. So I think what might have happened is that Gillette sent some razor kits from the US to the UK and the Great Britain stamp was put on in a secondary operation in the UK for whatever reason. We may never know.

Len - Your theory sounds as good as anything I could come up with.

On the ABC that Achim posted, the date code is on the underside of the portion of the head with the comb rather than the top. The ABCs I have only have date codes posted on the top, but then I don't have any from that year. Is the date code on the bottom like that particular to the year? Or is it just a variant way of stamping them that occurred at various times?
